Commonsensemedia.org
So many books, movies and websites to choose from. How can parents and kids educate themselves on content before they find themselves in the middle of it? TAAH DAHHH, I've found this nifty little website called commonsense media. It reviews books, TV shows, movies and websites complete with things to be heralded or warned about. It also gives an age appropriate suggestion. It reviews for all ages, want to know what the latest movie releases include that YOU have wanted to see? Find out in a click. I've included it on my sidebar sites here too. Click here to see Phineas & Ferb clip educating kids about posting to the internet.
One more handy site for my mommy toolbox. It's like the cliff notes for what your kids are reading. Here's the link. Happy reading!! http://www.commonsensemedia.org/

Burgers, Boys and Birthdays
Carter,
We had so much fun at your burgers and boys birthday party! In-n-out is one of my favorites too! You are now 9...so here's 9 things we love about you:
1. Your sense of humor. It's unique, it's wonderful, it brings smiles everywhere.
2. Your "likes". You have a lot of hobbies and enjoy trying new foods. I like how you always tell me what you like and sometimes I like when you tell me what you don't like (repeatedly).
3. You love to read! Even when you choose the goosebumps books that "freak me out", I'm happy you enjoy reading.
4. Wow, you are really getting good at teaching yourself new things like: in-like skating. You are not afraid to tackle the things your mom might not think you are ready for. I'll always be there when the hill is a little steep and you need someone to pull you uphill.
5. You are a numbers kid. I don't know why you love math so much, but can say multiplication facts faster than I can.
6. You have a big heart. I don't want to embarrass you; but I think this is one of your biggest gifts.
7. You always are striving for "the next level". No matter if it's in video games like super mario or in piano or school. You always want to know what is next to work towards. Not everyone is like this; but it makes your momma super happy to see you growing!
8. You love swimming! I love watching you at the beach and jumping waves together. I also love how you surprise me at swim lessons with what you are ready to learn, high dive and all.
9. You love your family and we are all best buddies. You can play things that Sperry loves and then things that Jacob loves doing. You are a joy to have in our family because you love us. Thanks for all those squeeze hugs at bedtime. Next time, I hope to win you and Jacob at the game "Life" or checkers. I know that our Heavenly Father has blessed our family with you!
Happy birthday Carter. I love who you are becoming; and who you have always been.
Little Miss, Behaving!!
Sperry has been working on keeping the level 5 cyclone tornado out of her room. And, I've gotta say, she has been doing a wonderful job!! Chica, I know you like things "comfortable", but thank you for really working hard and keeping your room nice...just like you are. I love how you are filled with love! Thank you for all of the hugs and kisses and love NOTES you surprise me with daily. What a wonderful joy you are for us.

"Red shorts rides again!"
Jacob was able to participate in our regional Jr. Olympics. He made great strides in learning about running and training for his ONE MILE RACE and also the relay. Jacob go ahead and get embarrassed with what I am about to say to you... I love you! I am super proud of you trying this new sport. I love how you managed the pressure, and just had FUN. I guess your childhood nickname of "crazy legs" continues with the speed that you command on the field. As I was trying to be cool and poised up in the stadium seats, I was so excited as you neared the finish line... I started cheering you on like crazy. So, I guess you will have to get used to it. I can be cool for the first part of the event, and a supportive, crazy fan at the end. Just know that your family will always been here to cheer you on and support you!
