10 minutes of the white stuff

It actually happened. I had laughed at the news for making such a big deal about snowfall in our area. You'd think it was as big some of the hollywood stuff people love out here. But, Saturday it happened and my kids were so excited.  Small hail sized snow came down at my house for about 10 minutes. You could hear my kids screaming, "It's snowing...it's snowing!!" I heard echos of other neighborhood children with a similar chat of delight.  We have had hail before, but I don't really remember it snowing.

Jacob's first Scout overnight

Jacob is 11 and the troop and troop leader of his 11-year old scout pack.  He's the only member of the pack his age group and he is able to enjoy the overnight camping trips if Scott goes with him (which gives this mama a little piece of mind that he will be looked after).

So, during his first overnight there were many memorable surprises mixed with memories of fun I had to share. They drove a few hours away to the local "mountains" and during the Winter Camp the reminded that they should expect snowfall.  Jacob and his friend  Bryce were sleeping in a two man tent and during the night, the tent collapsed due to all the snow on the roof.  As they realized they were trapped, they tried to escape via the front entrance.  The zipper was frozen closed and wouldn't budge.  Scott thought that they were laughing and joking around when he heard laughter and shouts.  He was in a tent close by, but didn't realize that they needed help.  Finally the boys were able to break free and headed to the kitchen area to get warm.

Ska...the revival

Oh yes we did!! Scott and I celebrated Valentines Day with a Ska band that I went to 20 years ago. Must admit that we were able to skank with the few that knew about it.  The band was known by several names: General Public, English Beat, the Specials...all good.  Who cares that we were actually one of the younger members of the crowd.  Who cares that I kept hitting into the chair that was taking up some of my dance space.  Who cares that Scott didn't realize why moving up towards the stage was  important.  It was so fun and I danced myself right into a cold.  But, you guessed it...who cares.

Save it for later, Tenderness, Full Stop...yep, I'm with ya.  So fun. Thanks to my husband for coming with me and enjoying it. I've got to look into our next date concert, yes I'm on a revival mission. Anyone else want to come to some "reunion concerts".

I love you Scott...thanks for agreeing to a blind date when we met. You always make me feel so comfortable being myself (even when I am a little crazy at concerts). I love you for that and for who you are.  All the things you do for our family is just a bonus.
