Sperry and Fawna

Fawna
Go back six years, in the middle of October. The 27th, to be exact. We all were rushing home in Dad’s 2007 land cruiser. Our band new dog was yapping and smooching her new family members. Fawna was her name. Then, she went silent. Then Fawna looked at me. The whole world stopped spinning. Time froze. Fawna and I were all alone.

Our eyes met. I smiled back.
“You’re the perfect dog, Fawna.” I said under my breath.
Finally, we crept towards our house. The chorus of “Hooray! Welcome Fawna! Aww… look at her face! She wants to play! Ha ha ha! You’re just sooo fun, Fawna.” echoed through our house.

Before we knew it, it was dark. Fawna’s smooth caramel coat rested lightly on my lap.
“Welcome Fawna.”

Sperry turns 11 and is in Heaven!

Sperry celebrated her 11th birthday and it was so much fun.

She originally wanted a surprise birthday, but it's so hard for girls to keep something exciting a secret!  So I gave in and told her all the plans.  Ice skating was first on the list. It was her first time ice skating and she slowly started to get the hang of it.  Each time she went around the rink to where we were sitting, she begged us to get a support that she could use.  We wanted to see how she would do without one. And, she got by with a little help from her friends.

Sperry loves all things baking, so we and her Grammie K and got her a cake decorating kit!  I got a plain cake that they could put the gift into immediate action and they girls all did a great job!

Ending the meal with some Miso soup with Udon noodles, her favorite, and soda in our "fancy glasses" seemed to end the wonderful day.

Sperry, we love you. We love the young woman you are becoming and how gifted you are in music, school, and being nice to others. Thanks for all you do to make our days more fun. And I appreciate how you help me to feel better even if it is to read me my favorite children's books while I'm in bed not feeling well.  You are amazing and I can't wait to see what this year will bring.  Happy viol-inning!!
